How To Play TF2 on Steam in Ubuntu Linux in Windows PC

To play TF2 in Steam on Ubuntu Linux in Windows 7, simply follow this procedure:

Here is AK's guide on Steam: How To Play TF2 in Ubuntu Linux in a Windows PC

Files Needed:

Edit: You don't really need Daemon Tools because VirtualBox can also mount an iso. (Thanks to SG user Dominator86!)

How To Use:

  1. Mount the Ubuntu 12 iso into your new Daemon Tools virtual drive on Win7.
  2. Run VirtualBox and create a new Ubuntu Linux partition (VDI Disk) with a size of at least 20GB or more depending on the space you have in the selected Win7 drive.
  3. Boot your new VDI up and it will ask you to select a DVD/ROM drive letter to spin up, select the one you just mounted.
  4. Let Ubuntu install and download the necessary packages fully whilst you get a snack or beverage or go out.
  5. Reboot your new Ubuntu in your VirtualBox.
  6. Open Firefox in Ubuntu, navigate to the Steam Store webpage and click Download Steam.
  7. Double click the "Steam_latest.deb" file that was downloaded and let Steam install fully.
  8. Login to Steam, verify with SteamGuard, and install TF2 the way you know (snack or beverage or go out) and get your free Tux when you start playing TF2 on Linux for the first time!
